Psychiatrists and Psychologists are the Reason we’re so Dysfunctional

If you look at America’s problems; gun violence, suicide, acting out, craziness… according to health care professionals, it’s all about mental health. We need better responses to mental health. However, good luck trying to get help because they simply refuse to help us. And the answer is simple: money.

What they don't recognize is that it's their fault. They are responsible for this mental-health crisis. And the reason, is simple. They refuse to treat anybody that can't afford them. Unlike the medical profession, they don't have to take insurance. And so they don't. ‘You got an issue? Can’t afford it? Fuck you.’

I will never forget a conversation I had with a psychiatrist regarding therapy, and she would not take my insurance. But she did send me a message…“I hope you find what you need.” I was so fuckin’ furious, and I responded. “Your comment is so tone deaf. I've been lost in the desert and I'm desperate for water. You're holding a water bottle in your hand, and you're telling me you can't give me any water, but that you hope I get the water I need.”

We're screwed. We need proper mental-health care. We need people who understand their way around the attic. The problem is those people care only about one thing... Money. PERIOD. And they don't have to help us because they're not considered essential. Which means they can screw us over 1000 times to midnight, and the government doesn't care.

We have a problem… our problem… which is not mental health. It's mental health providers. Those who hold the water bottles but refuse to share the water unless they are properly compensated… ut not by insurance, but by people with money.

Our problem is not mental health, but mental health providers.
